Dr. Berwal received his M.Tech and Ph.D degrees from the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), VNIT Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
Presently, he is working as an Associate Professor at Faculty of Communication Engineering, Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, MHOW, Indore, India.
Before this assignment, he spent about decade with Institute of National Importance (National Institute of Technology). Recently, he worked with NIT Kurukshetra for one year.
Previously, Dr. Berwal spent about 8.5 years at NIT Uttarakhand as a faculty member where, he served as a coordinator of Campus Wide
Networking from July 2016 to June 2019, as a Head of the department from March 2019 to February 2022 and as a Coordinator of Career Counselling and
Placement from March 2022 to November 2022. He was also the chairman, coordinator or special invitee in the various department and institute level
committees including the DFB, DPGC, DUGC, Purchase and Library Committee, Senate, ACoFAR, etc. He has more than 10 years of experience in teaching,
administration, research and Industry.
Currently, he is working on a DST-sponsored project titled "Secret Sharing Scheme Based Technology for Multimedia Security over Cloud" with a
financial support of Rs. 40 Lac for duration of 03 years. He supervised 08 M. Tech. scholars and 02 PhD awarded and 02 Ph. D. Thesis submitted. He authored
100+ technical research articles in reputed international conferences and journals, including IEEE and ACM Transactions with a citation of 1600+
with H-index 25. His research article was selected for the best student paper award in the IAPR endorsed International conference PReMI, ISI Kolkata,
India, in December 2017. Dr. Berwal received the Best Faculty Award 2022 for his significant contributions in teaching, research and administration
during the academic year 2021-22 at NIT Uttarakhand. He is Fellow of IETE, Senior Member of ACM and IEEE USA, Life member of ISTE and IUIAPR, Member of IET.
Dr. Berwal is serving as an Editor at the IETE Journal of Research (SCI, IF: 2.333), IETE Journal of Education (UGC) and Senior Editor at the Artificial Intelligence Evolution, Guest
Editor at special session of 29th ICONIP’22, Guest Editor at special session of 04th ICDLAIR’22, Publicity Chair at 9th UPCON’2022, Organizing Secretary at IEEE IC2E3'23.
His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, video processing, NLP, Multimedia analysis, and Cloud computing.
